Bandung City

Bandung City is the capital city of the West Java province of Indonesia. It is ancient times very much well known as Parijs van Java. Bandung lies in the highlands, that's why it has a fresh and cool air area, especially in the northern part. That is the reason why Bandung becomes a tourist destination and attraction spot. Plenty of public universities and many private colleges as well make Bandung known as one of the Indonesian student cities.

The location of Bandung is at the coordinates 107° E and 6° 55' South Latitude. The broad of the city is 16,767 hectares. The city's geography is in the central part of West Java. By doing so, it has strategic value to surrounding areas.

The city lies at an altitude of ± 768 meters above sea level. The north area of Bandung is higher than the south part. The height of the north area is ± 1.050 meters above sea level, while the southern part is ± 675 above sea level. The mountains surround the city, which creates a sort of basin city.

This kind of city drained two major rivers of Cikapundung and Citarum and its tributaries which generally flow to the south and meet at the Citarum River. Under these conditions, the southern region part of Bandung is highly vulnerable to the flooding problem.
